Introducing Duke

Hello Friends,

My first post of the New Year just has to be about what  I got for Christmas. On December 23rd, 2 of my daughters brought home a  7 week old chocolate lab puppy, complete with a big red bow tied around his neck! It was ok with me as we lost our 14 year old springer at the end of October to old age. I have to admit, I am very partial to golden retrievers and my husband likes irish setters, so the girls thought a lab would be a reasonable  compromise.

I have never owned a lab before so I have no idea what I am in for.  I took him to meet our Vet for his 9 week check up on Monday and everyone that was in the office loved him. Dr. Connor, who has seen all our animals for the last 15 years, completed Duke’s first comprehensive exam and pronounced him beautiful, healthy and big. “How big do you think he will get?” I asked a bit nervously, I must say. He said, “I can’t say for sure, of course, but judging from the size of his paws, I wouldn’t be surprised if he reached 100 lbs. WHAT!?

Without further ado, please meet Duke at 8 weeks old.

I think you can agree with me that he is adorable. He has stolen all of our hearts. His favorite activity is chewing, especially my ugg boots.

Now for  some book news.

I just finished the final proof read with  my editor 2 days ago. This is the fun and interesting part about writing a book, as I am learning alot about what it takes to get a book in print. The galley’s were proofed after they were printed, but my editor and I gave it another once over by phone, and I am happy to say that between the 2 of us, I think we caught everything.  We shall see.

I have not heard back from  anyone yet regarding blurbs, which are the little comments/reviews that are found on the back of a book. I should be hearing from a couple of people soon, I hope!

I finally had some business cards and book marks made so I can start handing them out. I am  not entirely comfortable with all this self-promotion, but if I don’t do it, who will, right? I am even having a poster sized picture of the cover made, just for me. It is an ironic twist to this whole book experience. You see, when a couple of my close friends started asking  me to tell my story in front of people about what had happened to my life and marriage,  I said, absolutely not. I will never speak publicly about this. And I quote,  “Thanks, but no thanks. I do not want to be the poster wife of sexual addiction.”

Well, guess what. God had other plans for me.

Enjoy the Day!
