“The following healing groups and books that I am recommending have been a huge help in my  years of recovery and emotional renewal.”

- Maurita

Healing Groups:

S-Anon – This is a group for spouses and friends of sex addicts. Pure and simple. It is based on the principles of AA. Has all it’s own specific books and workbooks.

COSA – This is a similar group for spouses and friends of sex addicts. Works the same as S-Anon.

Celebrate Recovery – A Christian based recovery program.  Check out saddleback.com link below,  it lists state by state the most current churches that offer this important group.

Al-anon – For spouses and family members of alcoholics. If you don’t have S-anon in your area, this group will work for you. I started out in Al-anon before starting up S-anon in my community.

Women’s Life Recovery Network – Check out our web site, for information about this innovative, monthly women’s only meeting.

Books:

“Out of the Shadows,” by Patrick Carnes.  Dr. Carnes is one of the pioneers in the treatment and diagnosis of sexual addiction. Important read for any spouse or family member affected by a loved one’s sexual addiction.

Co-dependent No More” and “Finding Your Way Home,” both by Melody Beattie.  Two of my most favorite books in my early years of recovery.

Surviving Betrayal,” by Alice May. The best book out there on the market for soothing reading for someone who has been betrayed. Almost every page jumped out at me. Written by women who have been there, for women, who are there now.  Don’t miss this book. You can find it on amazon.

Mending a Shattered Heart,“ by Stefanie Carnes. Good read for a spouse of a sex addict. Does a great job in addressing sexual behaviors our husband’s may struggle with.

Facing Heartbreak” – Steps to Recovery for Partners of Sex Addicts by Stefanie Carnes, PhD, Mari A. Lee, LMFT, Anthony D. Rodriguez, LCSW

This workbook asks thought-provoking questions, gives great information, and uses specific tasks and writing exercises to help partners of sex addicts travel the road through recovery.

Intimate Treason“, Healing The Trauma For Partners Confronting Sex Addiction by Claudia Black, PhD, Cara Tripodi, LCSW

Another great workbook. Packed with information about the impact sex addiction has on a spouse. Addresses all facets of what women experience when faced with sex addiction in a relationship. I wish I had this workbook at the beginning of my own road to recovery.
