Saturday in Malibu

The week we were out in LA happened to be a Biker Week in Myrtle Beach. We thought, why don’t we just stay an extra day and enjoy our time on the West  Coast. Great Idea. We rented a car and Saturday morning we headed out of Hollywood and made our way down the coast to have lunch in Malibu. Just Beautiful! Love the shore line and rocks and cliffs and hills. We made our way to a beautiful restaurant that sat up overlooking some roof tops and the ocean. It was a perfect day – not a cloud in the sky and cool and dry – no humidity to be felt. We drove up and down the coast for a while and finally decided to try Geoffrey’s – Malibu. Great choice. I could have sat there all day.

Good bye Geoffrey's - Malibu, (sigh)

We finished lunch and decided to drive back up the coast and check out Venice Beach. On the way out of Malibu, we saw a restaurant named Duke’s – need I say more? We pulled over and bought t-shirts.

Now the restaurant that was named after our dog, (not.)

In the word’s of my Aunt Bette, Venice Beach was “interesting.”  Aunt Bette is my Mother’s youngest sister, and happens to be one of the kindest women on the planet – I have never heard her say anything negative about anyone. She has raised  7 children, 5 boys and 2 girls. Anytime I would talk to her on the phone and inquire about a cousin update concerning any dating changes, she would never, ever say anything negative about any of the people my  cousins were dating. If she didn’t have anything nice to say, she would say,”Mawrita,” (that is my name in the classic boston accent)” she is interesting.”

The beach itself in Venice is certainly beautiful but I thought the look of the beachfront was kind of uninviting – we obviously went where all tourists go so we kind of deserved it.

Very pretty beach - Venice

the "boardwalk" off Venice - crazy

You Wish!

All in all, our few day’s out in LA were wonderful, and I think caused us both to think about what lies ahead, for either one of us.

Have a great night everyone!

Next up: My official book launch party in Myrtle Beach.
