DC/Baltimore

My post today will bring my recent book events and places I have been to up to date.  My first event was in the DC area – actually, it was in Gaithersburg, MD, hosted  by my sister, Suzanne. Susie is a very talented therapist and together with my newfriend and publicist, Kelly, we held a book reading and signing for about 50 people. It was a great mix of mostly women – local therapists, women in recovery, friends and neighbors, and even some old friends from Myrtle Beach, who had moved away from the area years ago.

Susie and Kelly did a great job organizing and hosting this special evening. Mat and Maddie were a huge help in serving and taking care of our guests! My other sister, Trisha was there as well as her good friend, Diane.

Great friends that I haven't seen in years!

I have to say that the Gaithersburg event was a very humbling, wonderful, evening.  I even met a woman who saw me on the Dr. Drew Show that I was on in May of 2011 – we have been in contact since – it was so wonderful to connect a real face to an e-mail. I just so appreciated all these wonderful people taking time out of their busy lives to come  out and support my book.  Just a great night.

Next up – a book reading and signing at my good college friend’s house in Alexandria, VA. Sue and I grew up in the same town and went to the same High School – for some reason, we did not really become friends until we went to college together. Sue opened her beautiful home to help celebrate my book. She invited some friends and family to attend. It was a wonderful, intimate gathering in a perfect setting.

Torrey and Allison - so thrilled they both came to see me!

The evening at Sue’s ended all to quickly. I had to leave early the next morning for the Baltimore Book Festival. I was really looking forward to this day. I haven’t been back in Baltimore for a very long time so couldn’t wait to be downtown for the day. I was also planning on having dinner after the festival with some very good friends so another great day to look forward to.  I arrived in Baltimore, checked into my room and then took a cab to the festival. It was a very hot, humid day but that did not stop a lot of people from coming out and walking through all the exhibits and meeting and chatting with the author’s that were present. Just a great way to spend the day.

The day ended around 6pm. I rushed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. My friend’s Pat, Ruth and Ruth’s husband, Rob picked me up at my hotel and drove to Fell’s Point for a great italian dinner. We had much to talk about as we had to get all caught up with each other’s lives for the past 8 years! My time in Baltimore flew by. Before I knew it, I was back at my hotel, packing up and getting ready to leave early the next morning for home. All in all, it was a wonderful 6 day road trip.
